Fossils of the Black Belt Workshop Tuesday Oct 21

This one day workshop will be in Livingston near Selma, Alabama on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.  Taught by professors from the University of West Alabama and geologists from the Geological Survey of Alabama, it is primarily for science teachers, and will help integrate real earth science into the curricula.  The cost is $15.  Teachers will visit 2 or more fossiliferous a large outcrop near Livingston Selma. Fossils include oysters, other bivalves, snails, bryozoan, worm tubes, and shark teeth. If very lucky, someone might find remains of sea turtles or a mosasaur (a giant sea lizard).  There will also be a number of door prizes and other handout material.  Transportation to the collecting sites, continental breakfast and lunch are also provided.
